GOING DOWN THE WHOLE HALF-LIFE TOWER 2
2023 June 10
53:26
A floor-by-floor analysis of "TWHL Tower 2", a 26-level massively-collaborative Half-Life mod based on taking advantage of a limited-space map template. The longest patbytes video at the time by far, lacking BGM as a result and focusing on commentary and gameplay.

MACROCOSM/NOVÆ
2023 April 8
19:15
A short film written, directed and soundtracked by musical artist dotnds, produced by Clean Slate (patbytes) and published by ANGEL EARTH. Described as an "archive of transmissions that have travelled the gap."

10/22 IN 640x480

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch ambient footage. Recorded October 2022. Compiled as archive February 2023.

COOKIE'S BUSTLE - THE GAME ALMOST ERASED FROM THE WEB
2023 January 28
12:27
A video on Cookie's Bustle, an obscure Japanese point-n-click that was saved from being lost media, then almost ceased to exist after a series of cryptic copyright strikes, before finding a second life amongst archivists and new fans. Particularly detailing the game's suspicious copyright situation I covered in a series of Twitter threads before the story was boosted by Time Extension. This resulted Vinesauce streaming the game to an audience of nearly 10,000, with over 70,000 YouTube views as of this writing.

"YEAR 2"

METROVG: HOW TO LIE FOREVER
2022 December 12
22:44
An archive of vandalism, chicanery, pathological lies and forged legal documents in an obscure corner of the Japanese video game music scene. This video is particularly detailing the situation of Yusup Dalmaz / "MetroVG" and the individual's false claims over various obscure game soundtracks, including a 65-page document detailing claims and transcribed Twitter threads and an EP-sized original soundtrack for the video.

HALF-LIFE'S SHOVELWARE TIME CAPSULE
2022 November 13
12:17
A video showcasing and detailing the contents of Half-Life Add-ons, an unlicensed compilation of online fan-materials from 2000. This includes details of mod and map gameplay, fandom materials like wallpapers and themes, and more (e.g. player models and audio skits, which may be the first known evidence of an Aphex Twin "meme").

MESSING UP THE TRAINING ROOM
2022 September 11
6:20
Video on various techniques and oddities related to Half-Life's Black Mesa Training Facility area, including usually-unseen areas, quirks in the map exercises, and skips that can be landed by a skilled player.

40 WINKS FINDINGS
2022 September 3
4:12
Breaking the channel mold, this is the first video of mine to star content outside of Valve's development completely. This video covers the discovery and archival of a demo-disc prototype of 40 Winks, a Eurocom-developed action-platformer published in 1999 for the PlayStation. Includes details on the steps taken for accurate screenshots and documentation.

THE BUG THAT BEATS NOCLIP
2022 August 28
1:37
Brief video regarding a strange teleportation bug in Half-Life's Surface Tension chapter, one that is dependent on game version and results in a full softlock of the playthrough. Audio commentary returns.

THERE'S EVEN WEIRDER CHARGERS, ACTUALLY
2022 August 19
1:51
Brief video regarding erroneously-placed health and HEV chargers in Half-Life's Apprehension chapter, made in response to commentors on the previous video. The voiceless format is retained.

THE STRANGEST PLACE YOU CAN HEAL
2022 August 9
2:45
Brief video regarding a strange pair of chargers in Half-Life's Blast Pit chapter, how to access them, why they don't make sense, and their origin seen in prototype footage. Does not include audio commentary, instead opting for a "Zullieesque" subtitle and visual system. Pleasantly received.

SENTENCES.TXT FINDINGS
2022 August 4
5:38
Video covering "sentences.txt", a file containing the entirety of Half-Life's speech system data, and my research on it, including a full spreadsheet analyzing the lines' usages in maps and source code. This work culminated in a large 200+-file-adding edit to preservation site The Cutting Room Floor's page on Half-Life's unused sounds. Used to have a longer name.

#REMEMBERFREEMAN
2022 July 21
1:33
Brief video regarding the "#RememberFreeman" event hosted by noclick and Radiation Hazard later that year, involving as many players as possible booting up Half-Life on August 14th on a particular hour. Quickly covers my own involvement in the event, and my plan to stream the entire game in full during that time. This stream was successful.

"YEAR 1"

ESCAPING HALF-LIFE 2: DEATHMATCH
2022 January 3
3:48
Video covering an exploitable map leak in HL2:DM's "dm_runoff", with an overview of the collision system, the areas accessible in "the void", and multiplayer applications. Done for educational purposes, and not for cheesing off innocent players.

THE HALF-LIFE: SOURCE BUG COMPENDIUM
2021 February 15
16:20
Paired with the previous HL:Source-focused video, this is meant to take a fine-toothed comb to the current state of Half-Life: Source following years of sweeping engine updates and graphical shifts, splitting the video into general and map-specific issues. This includes Half-Life Deathmatch: Source and its own quirks.

CLEANING UP HALF-LIFE: SOURCE
2021 January 23
5:46
A video dedicated to BloodyMuffin's "Half-Life: Source Fixed" mod, a project made to fix various bugs, inaccuracies or quirks in Valve's quickly-made Source remake of Half-Life. Includes a breakdown of most major bugs the mod fixes. First patbytes video to use voice recording and involved editing.

"YEAR X"

TF2
2020-ongoing
Various gameplay videos of Team Fortress 2. This is how the channel began, with short choppy clips uploaded to share with friends and such. Later experimented with much longer clip-dump styles, but generally not as successful as normal patbytes content. Still fun as hell to get the footage though.

HALF-LIFE: PRELIMINARY FINDINGS CD TOUR
2021 August 26
14:45

A display of all explorable materials of the Half-Life: Preliminary Findings multimedia CD. Recorded in 640x480 resolution, upscaled to prevent data loss. Uses two intersped "tours" for best quality within a virtual machine setting, along with a full manual transcription of interviews via YouTube captions.

SOURCE EXPLORATION
5 videos, 2020-2021
Multiple videos made of no-commentary exploration of Half-Life 2: Deathmatch maps found on my hard drive or other locations. Went hand-in-hand with my own map preservation project on GameBanana.

Test message - You should not be seeing this actually!
